Speaker Interview Series for Content Strategy Forum 2010

In addition to our book reviews, and as part of our promotional campaign leading up to the Content Strategy Forum 2010 in Paris next April, we will be publishing a series of interviews with some of the speakers in the Forum lineup. We’ll be talking with content strategists whose names you may not see as much compared to others on the circuit. Their activities, however, are no less significant and names to watch for in Europe. We’ll also be interviewing Richard Sheffield, who you have probably heard of, but who won’t be joining us next April, unfortunately. He should have some interesting thoughts to share with us.

There will be five interviews in the series, and here are the folks we’ll be picking on (graciously accepted our request to be interviewed):

  • Clare O’Brien
  • Vanessa Deconinck
  • Kenneth Yau
  • Joyce Hostyn
  • Richard Sheffield (not in the program)

You can see their bios and presentation abstracts in the Content Strategy Forum 2010 program and registration site.

Clare will be joining us from the UK and is a partner at CDA (Content Delivery & Analysis). She’ll be presenting at the forum on CDA’s CUT Score (Content Usefulness Toolkit), and sitting on the conference’s closing panel, which will focus on content strategy in Europe.

Vanessa, an independent content strategist in Paris, is a rare find in France. We’ll be looking forward to her address about content strategy in France, and she will also be on the closing panel.

Kenneth is the Principal at Baddit Ltd, and also joining us from the UK. He’s the creator of the recently formed Content Strategy Europe group, and will be presenting on the business of localisation in content strategy — just one of many areas of experience in his impressive background.

Joyce is Director Customer Experience at Open Text, and has 20 years of experience in the fields of design, communications, and content development. She will be coming all the way from Ontario (and not the only Canadian speaker), so if you think Paris is too far away to attend, we just nullified that notion. Joyce will be giving a very interesting discussion about the role of content strategy in the overall customer experience.

Richard Sheffield, unfortunately, will not be able to join us in Paris due to schedule conflicts. However, since we are a chapter representing technical communication professionals (many being technical writers), and being Richard is a former technical writer turned content strategy professional (even writing the first ever book on the topic of web content strategy) he seemed like a natural for posing a few questions to as well. We’re very grateful for his time on this.

There are other people in our program representing Europe that we would love to have interviewed too, like Jonathan Kahn, Elizabeth McGuane, and Sylvie Daumal, but do have a look at their abstracts and bios in the program.

We hope you’ll enjoy the interviews to come. Clare O’Brien’s interview will be up soon.
