How To Join

New STC membership applications are handled directly by the STC central office in the USA. If your residence is in France or any of it’s territorial states, membership with the France Chapter is automatic when you first join the Society for Technical Communication (STC) itself.

Join online via the secure online application form on the STC web site, or download a PDF application form. Complete the form and return it by mail or by fax to the STC’s central office together with your payment details.

If you are not in the France region, no worries! For just a few dollars more you can join the France Chapter as a second chapter membership; a great way to expand your global network.

Why join?

A few reasons why joining is good:

  1. Professional contribution — You are a professional. Demonstrate your commitment! Share your experiences with others and benefit from the special opportunities that are available only to members. Make an active contribution and help us to help the profession and the community.
  2. Reduced rates — Members pay reduced rate for meetings and events, but the gains are not only financial.
  3. Opportunities — There is much potential to gain experience (e.g. volunteering) and build your resume or portfolio (e.g., volunteering, participating in annual contests, and much more). If you are motivated and action-oriented, you would be surprised what is possible.
  4. Networking — Sure, you can network now, social media makes that a breeze, but with a membership you add a new dimension to your network. You build stronger relationships with people and realize more rewards from doing so.
  5. Recognition — Related to having opportunities, you can gain international recognition, which is awarded on two levels:
    1. to an individual member, for outstanding contributions to the community or for special achievements
    2. to publications, within the scope of the TransEuropean Technical Communications Competition

You do not have to be a member to receive our newsletter, attend an event, give a presentation or enter the competition, we gladly accept your interest in these areas regardless, but why not take the extra step and benefit yourself and others more. Become an active member!

When To Join

You can join STC any time. Membership is managed on a calendar-year basis (from 1 January to 31 December), but applications are accepted throughout the year. You will receive a rebate off your second year’s subscription depending on the month you join. If you join STC in the last 3 months of the year, your membership will be valid from the date you join until 31 December of the following year, which gives you a total of 15 months of benefits!
