President
Ray Gallon
Ray Gallon has been working in communications in one form or another for an entire lifetime. As a technical communicator he has worked with companies such as General Electric Medical Systems, Alcatel, and Ilog-IBM.
Currently Ray is responsible for specifying the global criteria for user interfaces and embedded information systems for Carestream Health Dental Group, a spinoff from Kodak that produces digital imaging equipment and software, and practice management software for dental and other medical practitioners.
Ray has been a member of STC since 1998, and has twice won awards in the France and European technical writing competitions. As Educational Outreach Manager, he has spearheaded, together with Clio Fouque, the STC France Mentoring Program with the Université de Paris VII, and has been reaching out to other French universities interested in creating technical communication mentoring programs.
Ray started in communications as a journalist with CBC Radio (Canada) and had a career in radio including CBC, NPR (USA) and European broadcasters such as France Culture, WDR (Köln), Deutsche Welle, Radio Netherlands International, etc. In the late 80s, Ray was program manager of WNYC-FM, New York City’s public radio station.
He shares his life between the Languedoc region of France and the city of Barcelona, Spain.
Treasurer
Robert Adlington
Robert Adlington has lived and authored technical documents in the UK, USA, and Belgium, and settled in France in 2003, where he currently manages the documentation for PowerDesigner at Sybase France. Now an expert in XML with an increasing focus on DITA, he relives a former career in accountancy in his role as chapter treasurer.
Immediate Past President
Stuart Culshaw
Stuart Culshaw is a Communications Project Leader with IBM. He provides writing and editorial support for communications projects including newsletters, community web portals, presentations, video scripts, and other multimedia content.
Stuart has been a member of the Society for Technical Communication since 1995 and has been part of the leadership team of the STC France Chapter since 2003 where he has previously held the position of Webmaster, Second Vice President, Vice President, President, Immediate Past President, and now Chapter President again.
