On 13th-14th October 2006 the STC region 2 chapters presented a two day conference that highlighted the importance of technical communications to business. The conference was aimed at business-minded professionals interested in the value of communication. High-calibre speakers representing IBM, McAfee, the California Institute of Technology and similar organizations presented their views on business needs for technical communication. The Conference took place at the Hampstead Britannia Hotel, London NW3, and attracted around 120 delegates from Europe, the US and Israel. The conference was organised under the auspicies of the European, Israeli and US Eastern coast communities of the STC which make up the STC's Region 2.

In addition to the conference, the STC Board of Directors held its quarterly meeting in London on 12-13 October 2006 to discuss, among other things, global issues in technical communication. Conference delegates had a chance to mix with the Board members at an evening social event sponsored by STC-UK.
